Oreca Matmut reveal 908 HDi
The Oreca Matmut team has launched their entry into the Le Mans Series in 2010 by unveiling the new livery of their Peugeot 908 HDi FAP, Saturday night at the Paul Ricard circuit on the evening of the first Le Mans Series tests days.
In the presence of the ACO President, Jean-Claude Plassart and many representatives of the press, Hugues de Chaunac and the two race drivers, Olivier Panis and Nicolas Lapierre, were unveiled with the Peugeot 908 HDi decorated in the spirit of the Dutch painter Mondrian, one of the pioneers of abstract art. The team maintains this visual identity which they initiated in their gasoline powered cars two years ago.
Loic Duval, who will join Panis and Lapierre for the 8 Hours of Le Castellet at Paul Ricard and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, was still on the airplane from Japan at the time of presentation. Previously, Panis and Lapierre had the opportunity to test their new mount on the Paul Ricard circuit at Le Castellet, leveraging the advantage that team Oreca has of being based just a short drive away.
Oreca Technical Director David Floury*: “The 908 is a prototype completed, we will therefore run it on the basis given by Peugeot Sport and only make some minor adjustments. We also believe the 8 Hours of Le Castellet will provide good data for our team and we will prepare for this race as we prepare for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. We hope to gain results from the track work, but also in the pits where we will conduct multiple simulations of pit stops. ”
* My apologies in advance for my poor translation of David’s French!

Team Oreca Matmut will be present at this year’s 24 hour race with the n°4 908 HDi FAP. The team have today released the names of the first two drivers, Frenchmen Olivier Panis and Nicolas Lapierre, the last driver has not yet been revealed.
