Peterborough Motorhome Show kicks off new outdoor show season.

The National Motorhome Show returns to the East of England Showground and kicks off the outdoor season on 27th-29th April.

‘Peterborough’ is considered not only to be the leading outdoor motorhome event but also the largest with over 320 exhibitors and 20,000 visitors expected over the weekend. With all the major manufacturers represented by leading UK dealers, there will be over 800 new and pre-owned motorhomes catering for all budgets including entry level to top of the range vehicles as well as many of the well established accessory suppliers.

Brand new for 2012 will be a series of FREE seminars over two days covering advice on buying a motorhome, preparing to take your motorhome abroad, what are the best (and greenest) electrical motorhome accessories, how to protect your motorhome and its contents from thieves, advice on payloads and how to ensure you are legal and safe, preparing for long-term or full-time motorhoming and advice on motorhome insurance and breakdown cover.

Campers can stay for four nights commencing 26th April and prices can be found on www.nationalmotorhomeshow.co.uk.
If you can’t manage to camp for the weekend, you can still visit the show for the day. Admission rates are adults £7.50 and children £2.00. This includes FREE parking and a FREE showguide. The exhibition area opens daily at 9.30am and closes at 5pm Friday and Saturday and 4.30pm on Sunday.

For more information on the show, visit www.nationalmotorhomeshow.co.uk. Alternatively, telephone 01778 391123 (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm) to ensure that you are on the mailing list for the next FREE issue of Showgoer magazine containing all the relevant booking forms.

Diesel Driver prepares for Le Mans 2012

Once again Diesel Driver can confirm that we have begun planning for the 2012 Le Mans 24 Hours race (Race Day: 16-17th June 2012). With just a cigarette paper separating the one remaining diesel Audi and the chasing Peugeots in 2011 next year’s race is already looking great as both manufacturers have again upped their game.

Once again we will be camping on the premier ACO site, Maison Blanche which is inside the circuit complex between Porsche Curves and the Ford Chicane and a few minutes leisurely stroll from the big wheel (a must at night during the race) and the Le Mans Village.

This year we have managed to finalise the ticket prices early and the week’s camping will cost £270 per person. In these financially strained times, that may seem a lot but before you dismiss it, have a look at what you’ll get:

- Entry to the pre-race testing weekend
– Camping during testing weekend (self managed)
– 7 days entry to the Le Mans circuit for race week
– A week’s camping (add £45 if you wish us to supply and erect your tent for you)
– Entry to scrutineering & driver’s autograph sessions
– Big Screen (4m wide!) satellite TV coverage of the race in our private camp area
– PS3 and other entertainment
– Cooking, BBQ and bar facilities
– Communal covered marquees
– A welcome beer/wine (or 3) on arrival

Please remember, D::D is a non-profit group and any surplus is added to the shopping/drinking budget, not to line anyone’s pocket.

So all you need to do it turn up (with or without a tent), your sleeping bag, a wash bag and some euros for your food/drink.

If you are interested and would like more details, please have a look at the Le Mans 2012 thread in the forum.
